Military Connection Event: Honoring Service & Strengthening Community
Sunday, May 18, 12:30–2 p.m.
Weddington Campus Youth Center
As we approach Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day, Weddington Methodist Church invites you to gather with them on Sunday, May 18, from 12:30–2p.m. in the Youth Center of Weddington Campus. We will join together to reflect on the sacrifices of our military members, veterans, and their families while exploring how we, as the church, can become beacons of hope, healing, and connection for military families. This special event will offer a deeply personal perspective on service, loss, and the power of community support with guest speaker Aaron Harper from Veteran’s Bridge Home.
Aaron Harper, a fifth-generation Marine Corps combat veteran, will share his journey of military service and introduce his wife's service in the NC Army National Guard included serving as a Blackhawk pilot and brigade commander. He will recount Michele’s experience of escorting a fallen comrade home after a tragic AH-64 Apache helicopter crash—a moment that underscores the profound weight of service and sacrifice.
Beyond honoring the past, this discussion will focus on the future—what we, as a community, can do to care for our military members, veterans, and their families. Aaron will introduce the mission and work of Veterans Bridge Home, sharing ways to bridge the gap between service and civilian life. Together, we will explore how churches and communities can become beacons of hope, healing, and connection.
Join us for an inspiring conversation on how we can turn gratitude into action, ensuring that no veteran or military family walks alone. Click here to learn more and register.
