Waxhaw-Weddington Rotary Club has a very special presentation Thursday, 6/19 at 715am. Location: Weddington Swim & Racquet Club on Weddington Road. The speaker is Maj Gen Marty Whelan, USAF Ret. Maj Gen Whalen, a 33-year veteran has 5 tours at the Pentagon doing space operations.
He was responsible for the Global Positioning System (GPS) version 3, which we all use every day. He served in the Air Staff & Joint Staff & was the Director of Space Forces for US Central Command in 2006 as we fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is currently Sr. VP of Aerospace Corporation Defense Systems. He will speak on the new Space Force, explain the emerging threats in and from space and how it impacts us. He will also comment on the Golden Dome project.
