The “Lost Soldiers” Podcast, the storytelling project uncovering the wartime histories of African American veterans buried at Charlotte’s once-abandoned Cedar Grove Cemetery, announces a powerful public exhibit and panel discussion titled “Marching Home: Housing, Hostility & Hope.” The program will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, as part of the African American Heritage Festival at the Charlotte Museum of History, located at 3500 Shamrock Drive, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
Presented by the Lost Soldiers Podcast, the panel explores the lived experiences of Black veterans returning home from war—examining barriers to housing, racial hostility, and the enduring hope that shaped communities in Charlotte and beyond. The discussion connects historical narratives to present-day conversations around housing equity, remembrance, and community restoration.
