Mental Health First Aid equips everyday people with lifesaving skills.
Hosted by Veterans Bridge Home, in partnership with The Governor’s Institute and the Mecklenburg County Veteran Services Office, this full-day Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training provides participants with practical, evidence-based tools to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health challenges and substance use crises.
Often described as “CPR for mental health,” MHFA prepares participants to recognize early warning signs, engage in supportive conversations, de-escalate crisis situations when appropriate, and connect individuals, especially veterans and their families, to local and professional resources. The training emphasizes real-world application, interactive discussion, and community-based response strategies.
This course is ideal for veteran-serving professionals, community partners, caregivers, employers, first points of contact, and individuals who want to play a proactive role in strengthening mental health awareness and support across Mecklenburg County.
Class size is limited to ensure meaningful participation and engagement.
